Live the good life!

Grow Your Own with Coles Plant Centre

Since the down-turn over the last few years, growing your own garden produce has become ever more popular. This has a lot to do with the fact you can save money against the weekly shop whilst enjoying the flavours of freshly harvested produce. A lifestyle that’s hard to beat and great to eat! If you have any questions about the available range of Grow Your Own products, please feel free to get in touch with a member of our team, who would be more than happy to offer any advice they can.

All year round

Vegetable Seeds‘Grow Your Own’ produce pretty much runs throughout the growing season; starting with an excess of 40 varieties of seed potatoes available in the shop from January, along with onion sets, shallots, garlic cloves etc. Strawberry plants become available from early spring, before a huge selection of vegetables ranging from all the cabbages, lettuce, runner beans, French beans, peas, carrots, beetroot, leeks and many more. Starting slightly later in the year we’ll have 25+ varieties of tomatoes, several cucumber breeds, red peppers, yellow peppers, green peppers, chilli peppers, aubergines, squash, courgettes, asparagus, and even grafted tomatoes.

Small scale production

Even in the smallest gardens there is nothing to stop you. Why not try something a little different such as growing some mixed lettuce leaves in a pot; available either ready mixed or individually to make your own arrangement. Anything from large leaves to cut greens and purples are available.

Grow Your Own Herb Garden

Herb GardenWe stock in excess of one hundred different varieties of herbs during the spring and summer months; anything from parsley, chives, basil, the various thyme just to name a few! There’s also a fantastic range of herb and strawberry planters to suit all tastes and fashions.

Grow Your Own Soft Fruit

Soft fruit is another big line for us pretty much year round, although to get the best choice autumn is when the season really kicks off. Blackberries in several varieties including fancy leaved and thornless clones, red currents, white currents, blackcurrants, loganberries, tayberries and raspberries. Even the super fruits; goji berry and blue berry. The blue berry would not look out of place in a shrub border with excellent white flowers in the spring, followed by attractive fruit and striking blood red autumn foliage.

Grow Your Own Hard Fruit

Bare Root Fruit TreesApples, pears, cherries and other hard fruits are available between as bare-rooted (not in a container) trees between November and March, which are far more economical to purchase than container plants. You can buy a fruit tree or bush at an age that is ready to fruit, plant it in your garden, and harvest the crop the same year!
